Changing My Mindset

A lot has happened in the past year. At a glance, I might be compelled to rattle off all the terrible things that have happened in my life, in my family and friends lives, in the country, and even the world. That is all I have focused on. While some of those things might be a topic of a blog post in the future, that doesn't mean I am back tracking and going back to a negative mindset. I think writing about it is a great way to put your thoughts on paper, figure out how you truly feel, and then try and think of the good that came from it.

There have been so many great things that have happened this year like starting my senior year of college, hitting the one year mark with my amazing boyfriend, getting to spend more time with my family, learning to cook amazing food, and focusing on exercise. Those are all incredible things! While some of that may seem small, I choose to make it big in my mind. I want to relish in it and be grateful for what I have. When I notice myself slipping back into the negative mindset, I try to interrupt myself and remember that this time is temporary and to make the most out of it. My dad has a fantastic outlook at what is going on. He is in the sales and trade show industry and if you know anything about it you know it is a ghost town at this point. Despite that, my dad see opportunity. He hasn't stopped reaching out to clients, looking for areas where their company can grow, and growing in his skills and relationships within the industry. I want to try to start thinking a bit more like that.

To those who have gotten this far, I have a challenge for you. Try to look for the opportunity in your life. What is going on now that could potentially benefit you, how can you learn more and grow? For me personally, I am going to open my Fiverr account this weekend an work on my editing skills so that I can market myself better when applying to jobs. Finally, I challenge you to acknowledge the good that has happened in the past year of your life, it helps a lot in boosting your mood and helping to stay more positive.

  1. I really love the theme of your Blog. Last year, I really struggled to stay positive, so I decide to start a Positivity Jar. At the end of everyday, I right down something positive that happened. This helps me stay focus on having a great mindset. Also to answer your question, I think one way that I can grow is taking control of my future. Now that I am in a junior in college, I need to spend more time figuring out my path. I'm going to do this by setting up an appointment with the smith career office. Hope to see more of your blog!

Job Interview

Last week I got an email inviting me to sign up for a time for a job interview! I was super excited because the marketing is rough right now and I was starting to get a little down. I did the assessments that were required, answered a few questions in the best way I could to show my personality and signed up for a time. The job is a Community Manager job for a relatively new company and if I got it I would, as they have said, "be the face of the company on social media." That makes me a bit nervous but also very excited at the same time.     I had the interview today and I think it went pretty well. It was very quick but it was nice to get experience interviewing for jobs and makes me feel more prepared and excited for interviews to come! I am continuing to apply places and look forward to hearing back from more and more people! To all the other seniors who are looking for jobs just know we are all in the same boat. Keep that determination and you will ...
